This morning kicked off with the official trailer for Preythe brand new opus of Predator franchise that comes exclusively to Hulu on 5 August. From 20th Century Studios, the franchise’s return is directed by Dan Trachtenberg (10 Cloverfield Lane), with Amber Middle of Thunder (“Legion”) featuring a Comanche woman who takes on the ultimate hunter.

Producer Jhane Myers revealed something really cool about Prey following the trailer drop, telling ComicBook.com that the film will be getting a full Comanche-language dub.

“We like Comanche throughout the movie, but when you choose to watch the movie for the first time, it will be the first time the Comanche language, and I’m Comanche, by the way, this will be the first time our language will be in a full dub and also subtitled for the entire filmsays Myers. “So it’s very important to me and the language component is very important because it will also be the first time that a film will be completely (dubbed). You have the option of watching it in Comanche on a brand new film.

Myers adds, “I know Navajo did it twice, with star warsbut star wars was 30 when it came out, The world of Nemo was 20 years old. But lo and behold, this film resets a whole bunch of paradigms, and one of them is the language component.

Located in the Comanche Nation 300 years ago, Prey is the story of a young woman, Naru, a fierce and highly skilled warrior. She was raised in the shadow of some of the most legendary hunters that roam the Great Plains, so when danger threatens her camp, she sets out to protect her people. The prey she stalks and ultimately confronts turns out to be a highly evolved alien predator with a technically advanced arsenal, resulting in a vicious and terrifying showdown between the two adversaries.

The filmmakers are committed to creating a film that offers an accurate portrayal of the Comanche people and brings a level of authenticity that rings true to its indigenous peoples. Myers, an acclaimed filmmaker, Sundance Fellow and member of the Comanche Nation itself, is known for her care and dedication to films surrounding the Comanche and Blackfeet Nations and her passion for honoring the heritage of Indigenous communities. As a result, the film features a cast made up almost entirely of Indigenous and First Nations talent, including newcomer Amber Midthunder (“The Ice Road,” “Roswell, New Mexico”). Dakota Beavers, Stormee Kipp (“Sooyii”), Michelle Muguet (“The Journey Home”), Julian black antelope (“Tribal”).
