As anyone who’s ever been to Los Angeles and been on one of the many celebrity house tours can tell you, the experience can best be summed up as a guided gaze at tall hedges and star-adorned gates.
But that wasn’t the case this weekend, when a fan-packed tour bus pulled up near Dwayne Johnson’s home.
“It’s pretty funny,” the “Jungle Cruise” star said in a clip he filmed from his car and then shared. Instagram. “There is a tourist bus here that always runs through my neighborhood.”
So he decides to stop next to the open-top bus, the window down and his cheerful personality upside down.
“Hey, do you know where I can find The Rock?” he asks.
In an instant, the faces of tourists change from moderate interest to absolute disbelief. There are screams of joy, drooping jaws, and a quick grip on the phone to capture the moment.
“How are you guys?” The 49-year-old actor said with a chuckle. And when he notices that some of the group are still scrambling to find their phones, he politely adds, “I’ll wait, don’t worry.”
After giving the excited group a few moments to take their own photos or videos, Johnson simply said, “You are having a good trip. Thank you. I love you too. ”Then he continues on his way.
Fans have clearly had the tour bus experience of a lifetime, and The Rock? He had a great time too.
“It was fun,” he said as he walked away. “A good way to start my Saturday.
But of course, this is not an uncommon way for him to spend his time. In the caption accompanying the clip, Johnson said he loved to “surprise people !!!” and he said that making people happy with such surprises was “one of the most interesting things about being famous and about my job.”
