Hawkeye Features A Secret Hulk Cameo, VFX Artist Confirms

ILM visual effects supervisor Vincent Papaix, who worked on Hawkeye, confirms the Hulk has a secret cameo on the show and reveals where to spot him.

Hawk Eye includes a secret Hulk cameo, according to a visual effects artist who worked on the series. Marvel Studios wrapped up its first Disney+ year with Jeremy Renner’s headlining project as Clint Barton. The show primarily focused on his relationship with Kate Bishop (Hailee Steinfeld), as well as the repercussions of his post-Blip stint as Ronin.

Due to his status as the founding hero of the MCU, Hawk Eye featured several references to his fellow original Avengers. This included a flashback to the death of Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) in Avengers: Endgamea sighting of Stark Tech arrows, and Rogers: The Musical – a Broadway show that addressed the events of the Battle of New York. But the play wasn’t the only time 2012 The Avengers was revisited on the Disney+ series. In reality, Hawk Eye began with a flashback to the Chitauri invasion led by Loki (Tom Hiddleston), albeit shown from Kate Bishop’s perspective as she watched Barton fight valiantly with only his bow and arrow. But apparently he wasn’t the only one of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes to feature in the scene.

By The Direct, Hulk was also featured in the footage. ILM visual effects supervisor Vincent Papaix confirmed this to the outlet after online chatter began to theorize that the green rage monster was also part of the scene. “That’s good Hulk jumping from building to building and getting shot with a Chitauri weapon.” said Papaix. Although he didn’t elaborate, given Kate’s location, there’s a good chance she also saw Bruce Banner’s alter ego survive a massive volley of alien lasers. Still, it was Barton’s efforts that had a significant impact on her.

After the climax of the Infinity Saga in Avengers: Endgame, only three of MCU’s founding heroes remain active players in the franchise. This includes Hawkeye and Hulk, with Thor (Chris Hemsworth) as the third. However, it’s unclear when they will reunite given that everyone is currently busy with their personal arcs. We wondered why none of the remaining MCU heroes got involved in Barton’s troubles at Hawkeye. Granted, the God of Thunder is probably still out of this world with the Guardians of the Galaxy, but Bruce could have easily reached out considering Shang-Chi and the Legends of the Ten Rings confirmed that he has stayed in contact with other characters.

As the MCU’s Phase 4 takes shape, the chances of the Hulk, Hawkeye, and even Thor reuniting are getting slim – at least for now. Marvel Studios is focused on single-player adventures, with a culminating project such as a theory lesson avengers 5 still far down the road. But like Hawk Eye proven, Marvel can also get creative with making sure fans don’t forget everything the remaining trio went through as part of the original Avengers roster. Given the MCU’s interconnected storytelling format, revisiting the events of the Infinity Saga is almost inevitable.
