EXAM – Bicycling through the 400 acre nature reserve located about 6 blocks from my home has become an enjoyable pastime for my family. A few months ago I tested and rated the Hollywood Racks Hitch 2 bike rack. While great, it couldn’t hold the weight of my Radio Flyer e-bike, and certainly not when I finally get it. another electric bike for my wife. That would mean I need a hitch for 2 e-bikes. Alright, problem solved!! Hollywood Racks has just released the Destination E Rack for E-Bikes. Let’s put it together and see how it goes!!
What is that?
The Hollywood Racks Destination E Rack for Electric Bikes is a new hitch-mounted bike rack designed specifically to carry e-bikes with any tire size up to 4.5″ wide. This new bike rack has a sleek, modern design and can carry up to two 70lb e-bikes or standard bikes. It includes a wide extendable aluminum ramp so you can load and unload your bikes easily. The Destination E hitch-mounted bike rack can fold flat against the car when not in use and features a “balanced incline” where the pivot point is between the bikes for easy trunk access when the bikes are loaded. It includes additional features such as a locking frame and adjustable, interlocking seatpost clamps, and their No Wobble-No Tools Hitch Clamp System.

The carrier is made mostly of metal with some rubber parts and ABS/plastic parts.
The first thing I had to do was lay out the parts and assemble the hitch. It must be assembled on the vehicle so the hitch interface must be attached first. The following photos are snapshots of my assembly process:
No Wobble-No Tools Hitch Clamping System. Turn clockwise to tighten and remove any play in the hitch connection.
The Hollywood Racks Destination E Rack comes with a ramp, which is great because my e-bike is heavy, and getting it on the rack without a ramp would be a nightmare. Versatile locking handles/post catches as well as wheel straps ensure the bike is secure. There is added security as the pole clamps can be locked with the key for better theft prevention. The same key works for the hitch pin lock.
The Hollywood Racks Destination E Rack can also be swung down to give you access to the trunk or in my case the truck bed:
My truck is about 20 feet long, and as you can see in the next photo, the Hollywood Racks Destination E Rack adds more length. So I definitely won’t fit in the average parking spot when the rack is attached:
What I like
- Manufacturing quality
- The design and the look
- weight capacity
What I would change
- I have trouble finding fault with this rack
I really like the Hollywood Racks Destination E Rack. It’s just as solidly built as the previous model I reviewed, but this one can easily take two e-bikes. When driving, there is no rattling or jerking, and the ramp is an essential and indispensable accessory. Although the rack is heavy if you have to remove it from the hitch, it is quite manageable. I give him a thumbs up and 2 thumbs up!!
