If Zazie Beetz Returns For ‘Deadpool 3,’ Domino Will Be A Little Different

dead Pool is a superhero movie that redefined the comic book genre, with a cunning antihero and plenty of jokes that broke the fourth wall. With Ryan Reynolds as the titular hero, dead Pool was a smash hit, spawning a sequel in 2018, Deadpool 2, which introduced a host of new characters. One of the most popular new characters was Domino, played by actor Zazie Beetz. With fans eagerly waiting Dead Pool 3many wonder if Beetz will reprise her role and if she’s on board for the sequel.

Deadpool 2 was, in many ways, a darker story than what viewers enjoyed in dead Pool. The sequel featured Wade Wilson/Deadpool struggling to cope with life after his girlfriend, Vanessa, was killed in a failed attack on him. After reluctantly agreeing to join the X-Men, Deadpool finds himself on the run from Cable, a super-soldier from the future who is determined to kill Deadpool.

Domino, a mercenary mutant with the ability to manipulate luck, assists Deadpool as part of the new anti-hero team X-Force. Domino is a badass who doesn’t suffer from jerks and immediately forms a back-and-forth rapport with Deadpool. Fans loved the character of Domino and embraced the vibrant energy Beetz brought to the role.

Whereas Dead Pool 3 seems to be in limbo at the moment, Beetz is definitely on board to reprise the role of Domino. In a November 2021 interview with Comic Book, Beetz opened up about the highly anticipated movie and how she feels about playing Domino again. “I would love to see Domino again,” Beetz said. “I would like to do a dead Pool 3, 4, 5, seven, 19. I also wanted to be like, ‘Maybe I could just do my own origin story.’

Beetz added: “I feel honored to have been able to represent her on screen and to have played with her, as her. I love her and so I would be more than happy to see her again in front of the camera. And I think I will. If Disney doesn’t realize it, I will.

While Beetz clearly has a lot of love for the character, a tragedy affects his return. In 2017, while filming the film, stunt double Joi “SJ” Harris, Beetz’s stunt double, was killed in a motorcycle accident. According to Deadline, the team immediately halted production on Deadpool 2 temporarily. Likewise, if Beetz returned, another person would perform Eric’s stunts of Domino.

A new double for Domino probably won’t be the only change in the Deadpool universe. According to The Digital Fix, there’s no official word on a release date for Dead Pool 3. And with Reynolds busy with other projects, it looks like filming hasn’t even started yet.

However, the publication reports that the film will be set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which should provide fans with plenty of opportunities to enjoy cameos and clever references to other established MCU characters and storylines. For now, Domino and dead Pool fans will have to wait to see what’s to come for the third installment.
