We have some bad news for Jennifer Garner fans who have been waiting to hear more about the actress’ latest project, My glory was that I had such friends. It would seem that the A.k.a the star’s schedule was a little too hectic, which led her to drop the series from her lineup. With Garner no longer involved, Apple TV+ decided to unplug the whole shebang completely, news that Deadline first broke over the weekend.
Jennifer Garner wasn’t the only big name attached to the production with JJ Abrams supporting her through his Bad Robot. Warner Bros. TV is set to work alongside Bad Robot from Creation to several hyphens on the project that the two plan to move forward elsewhere in the future. Acting as an adaptation of Amy Silverstein’s memoir of the same name, My glory was that I had such friends was a touching story of friendship as a woman’s friends rally around her as she awaits news of her second heart transplant. Immediately recognizing that Silverstein’s book would make a great screen production, Bad Robot picked up the rights in 2017.
However, all hope is not lost for those waiting for Jennifer Garner’s return to the small screen. The actress is currently working on another novel-series adaptation with Apple TV+, this one being that of Laura Dave. The last thing he said to me. As My glory was that I had such friends, The last thing he said to me has another huge production name tied to it – it’s Reese Witherspoon’s Hello Sunshine. The best-selling mystery thriller, which has found a place on Reese Witherspoon’s book club reading list, tells the story of a wife’s struggle to uncover the secret life of her husband who disappeared in the airs. Along with Garner, the series is set to star Angourie Rice, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Aisha Tyler, Geoff Stults, John Harlan Kim and Augusto Aguilera.
It’s been a minute since the public has seen the Electra star for more than one or two episodes of a television series. Although she became a super celebrity for her role in the spy series A.k.a, in recent days, Jennifer Garner has stuck to projects of the big screen variety. Earlier this year, she appeared alongside Ryan Reynolds in Shawn Levy and Netflix’s sci-fi action comedy, The Adam Project. Prior to that, she starred as a deeply wounded matriarch in the 2021 family action comedy, yes day.
While it’s an absolute bummer that Jennifer Garner and Apple TV+ won’t be moving forward with My glory was that I had such friends, it’s well within the realm of possibility that we’ll see another network and a lead actress take over the track to give it its small screen. Since the rights have been sought and contested by multiple studios, there’s no way Bad Robot won’t push it through a different platform. For now, we can at least derive some happiness knowing that Garner will soon be on Apple TV+ as the woman peeling back the layers of truth in The last thing he said to me.
