Scarlett Johansson explains why she was so “protective” of her pregnancies

(NOTE LANGUAGE) In a conversation with vanity lounge on her new skincare line, The Outset, mom and Marvel movie star Scarlett Johansson explained what it’s like to be a mother in the public eye.

Johansson, who welcomed a baby boy last August Cosmos with her husband, Saturday Night Liveit’s Colin Jostalso has a six-year-old daughter, Pinkwith her ex-husband, journalist Romain Dauriac. ScarJo admits vanity lounge that she was “so protective of both pregnancies, not wanting to feel scrutinized in the public eye”.

Indeed, her baby with Jost surprised even showbiz journalists, with promotional Zoom appearances only for Black Widow which makes it easier to hide a baby bump than the in-person publicity appearances before the pandemic.

“I wanted to be able to have my own feelings about my changing body without other people also telling me how they viewed me, whether positive or negative,” Scarlett said. “I realized when I was pregnant with my son, it’s funny how much people put on you when you’re pregnant – their hopes or their judgment or their desire, a lot of it is put on pregnant women. “

Scarlett admits:[W]While I was definitely excited about being pregnant in some ways, I also had a lot of not-so-good feelings about it, and that would be looked into by – I’m talking about… women who were close to me.

She adds with a laugh:[W]then i said [one friend] that I was pregnant – she knew I was trying – she was just like, ‘Oh shit. Great, but not great. And I was like, ‘You’re a real friend.’

Scarlet says she “feels like a lot has come forward in the last five years in terms of female empowerment, but this thing is kind of still in the dark ages. So much judgment, it’s crazy.
