Shang-Chi, Jungle Cruise and more arrive at Disney + this Friday.
Shang-Chi will air on Disney + later this week as part of Disney + Day, with much more new content.
Black Widow, Shang-Chi, and now Eternals have all been released in theaters since they were allowed to reopen. It already feels like an eternity when the MCU and the rest of Hollywood were put on hiatus due to the pandemic. However, not everyone feels safe returning to the movies yet, which may mean you haven’t seen Shang-Chi yet.
If you missed the Legend of the Ten Rings cutscene, then there’s some really great news coming this week. As promised, Shang-Chi will air on Disney + for all subscribers starting November 12. Disney revealed it some time ago as part of its Disney + Day announcement, and now that day is almost upon us.
While Shang-Chi is easily the headliner for Disney + Day, that’s not the only thing coming to the streaming service this Friday. Jungle Cruise will also debut on Disney +, as will a brand new Home Alone movie, Home Sweet Home Alone. There will also be new shorts from Pixar and The Simpsons as well as first glimpses of future Marvel and Star Wars projects.
It’s been a little mixed for the MCU since its big-screen projects were allowed to return to theaters. Black Widow launched on Disney + via Premier Access alongside its theatrical release. This resulted in the film not making the box office numbers it could have made if it had launched on time. It also led Scarlett Johansson to sue Disney, a case that has since been settled.
Shang-Chi, on the other hand, became the fastest film to hit $ 100 million at the box office in 2021 and enjoyed the highest-grossing Labor Day weekend of all time. Disney and Marvel are hoping Eternals is more Shang-Chi than Black Widow, but his reviews suggest that may not be the case. The latest MCU movie currently has a 57% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. It’s the lowest of any MCU movie, and it’s not even close.
