Prior to jumping into esports, Envy Gaming CEO Adam Rymer ran alongside some of Hollywood’s brightest stars as executive film producer, a role that has led to several appearances at the Grammy Awards and at the Cannes Film Festival.
Rymer specializes in the fundamental contributions of off-set film production.
“My job was to identify the scripts, raise the funding and make the deals for the talent involved,” Rymer said. “It’s basically what we call ‘packaging’. that brings the film together in a way that can be sold.
But for the shooting of The rover, a 2014 film depicting an adventure following the global economic collapse, Rymer was fortunate enough to work on set. The film was shot in the Australian Outback, where Rymer befriended actors Guy Pearce and Robert Pattinson.
“We shot in a very remote location [area], so the cast and crew developed a close relationship, ”said Rymer. “I remember one night we were at a local bar and Rob bought drinks for everyone. We just traded jokes and shared stories all evening. It was one of those nights where I just realized that no matter how superstar someone is, we’re all just people.
And waking up one morning for a bike ride, Rymer remembers a special moment with Pearce.
“I also remember a 100 degree morning, a bike ride and just met Guy in the middle of the street,” he said. “And we’re just standing in the street, no cars passing by, discussing the random wildlife that existed in the middle of the Outback.”
