What upcoming MCU movies fit with Marvel’s new release dates?

it helps that The Fantastic Four Already has a director attached to the project, Jon Watts from the beloved MCU Spider-Man trilogy. With Spider-Man: No way Home arriving in December, Watts is free to focus on The Fantastic Four, and that could very well be enough time for this movie to be made in time for July 2023.

Then there’s October 6, 2023, and our money here is on the highly anticipated Marvel Studios Blade to restart. Why? Well, it would be really cool if the MCU’s first horror movie came out in October, and superhero-adjacent movies like Venom and Joker have already proven that there is huge money to be made here. Blade is even more advanced than Fantastic Four at this point, having a director (Mughal Mowgli‘s Bassam Tariq), a writer (Stacy Osei-Kuffour who wrote on HBO Watchmen), and a star (a perfectly molded Mahershala Ali).

Then there’s November 10, 2023, which is a mystery at the moment. While there are two projects announced that could fit here (Captain America 4 and Deadpool 3… more on both in a minute), I think it’s more likely that this becomes a “safe” date for The Fantastic Four if he is unable to meet the July release date.

Deadpool 3

February 16, 2024 seems perfect for Deadpool 3. The first film in the franchise did massive business with a February release date of 2016, which brought in a ridiculous amount of R-rated film of $ 783 million at the global box office. While this film was a 20th Century Fox release prior to the Disney buyout, Marvel Studios enjoyed even greater success with a February 16 release date two years later with Black Panther. In other words, they know they can make a lot of money here.

So why Deadpool 3 and not Captain America 4? It’s hard to say, but since this project was first announced, and we’ll have gone six years without a Ryan Reynolds Deadpool movie. It’s too long for the audience and probably for Reynolds himself. Deadpool 3 has a writing team of Wendy Molyneux and Lizzie Molyneux-Loeglin, but no director yet.

That being said, after seeing the magic that Reynolds worked with free guy director Shawn Levy, we have to wonder which movie directed by Levy Deadpool 3 would look like. And Levy himself recently told us that he is “a mega fan of Deadpool and the Marvel movies in general” and that directing Deadpool 3 “is certainly an attractive idea.”
