X-Men Characters Who Deserve Their Own Movie, According To Ranker

Fans are still eagerly awaiting news on how the X-Men will be integrated into the MCU and which of the fan-favorite characters will appear first. But while there will definitely be a team-up movie at some point, with so many interesting mutant characters, there are some that fans would rather see in their own solo adventure.

Some of these characters have been brought back to the past x-men highly acclaimed films while others had disappointing debuts on the big screen. However, with rich stories and potential, Ranker fans highlighted the X-Men characters who would benefit the most from their own movie.

ten Mystical

Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique, wearing blue makeup with red hair.

In the original version x-men movies, Mystique stood out as a badass fighter who also had the very cool shapeshifting abilities. She was little more than a loyal follower of Magneto, but previous films have made her a bigger X-Men character and central to those films.

Perhaps given Jennifer Lawrence’s performance in the prequels, fans could see Mystique following her own secret missions. There was a period of time between X-Men: First Class and X-Men: Days of Future Past when she seemed to be operating solo.

9 Gray Jeans

Jean Gray sacrifices herself to save the X-Men in X2

Jean Gray is not only one of the founding members of the comic book X-Men, but also one of the team’s most complex heroes. his storyline as Phoenix is one of the most acclaimed in comics, but it struggled to be adapted for the big screen.

With both X-Men: The Last Stand and dark phoenix failing to do the story justice, fans seem to think a single-player story would suit Jean Grey better. Without so many other characters, the movie could focus more on his personal struggle.

8 scarlet witch

Although mutants haven’t technically been introduced to the MCU, a key X-Men character has been a part of the cinematic universe for quite some time now. Wanda Maximoff aka Scarlet Witch is one of the most powerful and potentially dangerous mutants of all, which seems to play into her appearance in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

Yet even with this co-starring role, her role in the avengers films and its acclaimed series Wanda Visionfans still think Wanda deserves to be in the spotlight in her own movie.

7 X-23

X-23 in his final fight with Wolverine in Logan.

Wolverine was certainly the most outstanding character of the x-men movies to date and the only one to have had his own movie so far. However, fans feel his clone, X-23, deserves some of that attention and a solo adventure as well.

X-23 alias Laura was brought to the cinema in Logan with Dafne Keen giving a stunning performance in the role. Fans were so impressed that they were willing to follow the young mutant character even after Logan’s death.

6 Somnambulist

Alan Cumming as Nightcrawler in X2 X-Men United

Nightcrawler was never a big part of the x-men films, appearing in just three films in a reduced role. However, he certainly made a memorable debut with his first scene in X2: X-Men United. His attack on the White House provided the franchise with perhaps its best action sequence.

Perhaps it was this footage alone that convinced fans that Nightcrawler needs his own movie. in addition to the fun action scenes he could provide, the character has a lot of interesting backstories and comic book connections.

5 Cable

Cable played by Josh Brolin of X Force

After a long wait, Cable finally makes his film debut in Deadpool 2. Of course, as cool as the time-traveling assassin is, it’s hard to stand out too much in a film that features Deadpool, so there were a lot of things left untouched with the character.

With Josh Brolin in the role, it will be interesting to see if the character makes the jump to the MCU. But from his role as the leader of Task Force X to his connection to other X-Men characters, he’s a character with a lot more to explore.

4 Storm

Alexandra Shipp as Storm in X-Men Apocalypse

Storm is one of the most powerful X-Men and another classic character that has been around for a long time. She had a prominent role in the films with Halle Berry playing the part in the early films before Alexandra Shipp took over the role in the earlier films.

Regardless of the actor who would play the role, Storm is a character with so much potential. It would also be very interesting to see Storm’s connection to Wakanda explored in the movies at some point.

3 Gambit

Despite being one of the most popular members of the X-Men, Gambit has had very little presence in the movies. His only appearance to date has been in X-Men Origins: Wolverine where he was played by Taylor Kitsch.

There was a time when it looked like Gambit would indeed get his own solo movie with Channing Tatum developing it for several years. But with multiple starts and stops, the film remains one of the most sought after superhero films fans have been looking for.

2 Magneto

Magneto ends the Missile Crisis in X-Men First Class.

From the start of the x-men franchise, Magento served as the main villain and fans are expecting the character to make a return to the MCU. But there’s so much more to the character than just being the antagonist of heroes.

The very first x-men the movie started with Magneto’s backstory and X-Men: First Class explored his quest for revenge against the Nazis who killed his family. This material alone would make for a fitting and complex solo story for one of Marvel’s greatest villains.

1 Thug

Snape has been featured in the movies as one of the key characters in the overall story. Throughout her journey, fans got to see a young mutant coping with feelings of isolation from the rest of the world and the fear others had of her. However, as the films continued, her role was significantly reduced.

After being little more than an appearance in X-Men: The Last StandSnape was completely cut off from X-Men: Days of Future Past. With that and the fact that many fans feel the movies never really did justice to his strength and fun as a character, Snape is a character that could be developed into his own story.
